Administering contrast fluid to patients is necessary to detect tumours via CT scans, for example. However, these fluids end up in Radboudumc's wastewater, which is not good for the environment. The imaging department, therefore, wants to reduce the amount of contrast fluid per patient.
It is succeeding: consumption has gone down by an average of 10%. This initiative has been nominated for VGZ's 'Samen Voorop Awards'.
