Contrast dye Ferrotran, a product of Radboudumc spin-off SPL Medical, visualizes very small metastases in the lymph nodes on MRI. The dye even enables detection of micro-metastases (smaller than 2 millimetres). Other diagnostic techniques detect metastases no smaller than 4 to 6 millimetres.
