Meeting Your Peers Engineers #9 – a look in the labs of Radboud University

Date: 12 October 2026
Location: Radboud University, Nijmegen

During an earlier Meeting Your Peers session, Radboud University offered to open the doors to their labs for a future edition. Together, we developed that idea into a new Meeting Your Peers session – and this time we are taking you behind the scenes at Radboud University.

Engineers and managers from our network are invited to visit several research facilities, including HFML-FELIX, and get a close-up look at the technologies, expertise and research capabilities available right here in Nijmegen.

This session is about more than seeing impressive technology. We will use real examples of collaborations between industry and Radboud University to explore an important question: how do you turn a technical challenge into a successful partnership between industry and research?

From technical challenge to collaboration

A good collaboration often starts with an engineer encountering a technical challenge. But moving from that first question to an actual research partnership requires more: the right expertise, a shared goal and commitment from both engineers and decision-makers.

During the afternoon, we will visit several labs and look at examples of successful collaborations between industry and university. What was the original technical challenge? How did the collaboration start? What did both sides bring to the table? And what made the partnership work?

By bringing engineers, researchers and managers together, we want to make it easier to find and use the knowledge and facilities available at Radboud University – and explore where this could lead to new collaborations.

What to expect

During the afternoon, we will visit several Radboud University research facilities, including HFML-FELIX.

At each stop, researchers will introduce the technology and capabilities of the lab and share a real example of collaboration with industry. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask technical questions, exchange experiences and discuss where similar expertise could be relevant to challenges within your own organisation.

After the lab visits, we will come together to discuss how companies can connect their technical challenges to the knowledge, expertise and facilities available at Radboud University.

And, as always with Meeting Your Peers, we will finish with drinks and plenty of time to continue the conversation.
