Oost NL kicks off project X-Borders for digital startups
The INTERREG project “Hubs Connected Crossing Borders” has officially started. On Tuesday 3 September 2019, the kick-off meeting took place at development company Oost NL, in which various project partners and hubs were present. “X-Borders” is aimed at Dutch and German startups who want to explore the ecosystem and the market of the neighboring country. Through an “Event Exchange” and a “Get Connected Week”, they are given the opportunity to exchange knowledge with partner regions, to visit events and to pitch ideas for investors. Oost NL acts as lead partner in this digital start-up project and Novio Tech Campus is associated with the project.
The cooperation between startups on either side of the border has been endorsed with a declaration of intent by the Province of Gelderland and the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy of the Land of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). The main objective of the cross-border program is to collect and share knowledge and networks to create awareness for the ecosystem on both sides of the border.
“The Dutch and Germans complement each other in many ways. At the same time, we see that the ecosystems in both countries are not sufficiently intertwined. With the X-Borders program we want to strengthen the interaction between startups and hubs in the Netherlands and Germany, “says project leader Hans Brouwers.
